Naualo

Questions and answers

What is Naualo?

A way to give the people close to you one short message a day. It isn't a chat: you plan a message of up to 40 characters for each of your connections, and it stays on their home screen and lock screen for the whole day.

When does my message show?

From 4:00 on the day you picked, in their time zone, until 4:00 the next morning. You can plan up to 7 days ahead, starting tomorrow, and change or delete a message until it shows.

What if someone doesn't write for a day?

In the app you keep seeing the last message they wrote you, with how old it is, until a new one arrives. The widgets only show today's new messages.

Can I reply?

Only with one emoji, while the message is showing. There are no text replies and no read receipts.

Why didn't I get a notification for a new message?

On purpose: new messages never buzz. The widgets update quietly after 4:00. If someone has already written you a message for tomorrow, you get a heads-up in the evening, so you can write one back.

How do I add the widgets?

Touch and hold an empty spot on your home screen, add a widget, and choose Naualo. On iPhone, and on Android phones that have lock-screen widgets, you can add it to your lock screen too.

Who can find me?

By default, anyone who searches for your username. In Account → Privacy you can choose Connections of my connections, or Nobody. People can always connect through your invite link.

Are messages end-to-end encrypted?

No. Messages are stored on our server, and only the newest message in each direction is kept. A message that's reported is kept until it has been reviewed.

How do I report someone?

Open the message they wrote you and choose Report, or open their profile from their screen and choose Report. They aren't told.
